Zydrunas Savickas is a popular athlete who has become known for his exceptional strength. On his account, the title of the strongest man in both Europe and the whole world. The Lithuanian athlete is also known for his physical condition, which he was able to bring to a low percentage of fat.
Biography
The future strongman was born in the mid-70s of the last century on the outskirts of Lithuania, in the city of Bizai. From childhood, the boy was distinguished by a strong, muscular physique. He always liked sports: already in adolescence, under the influence of television programs, he decided to become a professional athlete.
At the age of 17, ydrunas first took part in a strength competition, where he took tenth place. Despite the defeat, the future strongman just rallied and set goals for the future.
Further, his success began to grow, he tried to develop in various sports areas: powerlifting, power extreme. Soon he set a record for his country in triathlon, that is, he managed to do the squat with a barbell, bench press and deadlift, the total amount of kilograms was more than a thousand.
In 1997 Savickas won the Lithuanian Power Extreme Tournament, he became the strongest person in this direction in his native country. This achievement allowed the man to take part in world competitions.
Knee injury and rehabilitation
At the age of 26, Zhidrunas had to interrupt his sports career due to an unexpected knee injury, the strongman overestimated his strength and took too much working weight. Many doctors who were involved in the rehabilitation of the man argued that he should no longer play any sports, the injury was too serious.
Contrary to all the advice, the purposeful Savickas made a strong-willed decision to recover: during the year he was engaged in physiotherapy exercises, used various medications. As a result, the knee healed, and Zhidrunas returned to professional sports.
Major sporting achievements
The world-class strongman held the annual championship in one of the most prestigious heavyweight lifting events, the Arnold Classic Strongest Men, for five years, from 2003 to 2008. After 8 years, he again won this competition, regaining the title of the strongest man on Earth in this sporting direction.
In his homeland, Savickas has repeatedly held leading positions in both power extreme and powerlifting. He also promotes the sports movement in Lithuania, at the moment many teenagers in the country who are interested in physical activity know him.
Personal life
Usually Zhidrunas tries not to spread about the details of his personal life, but in 2010 the media learned that he had a wife, Yurgita Vorobyovite. The girl was also born in the athlete's home country.
As the man himself notes, the wedding ceremony was held without unnecessary noise and a large number of guests. The chosen one Savickas has an adult son from a previous marriage.
