The Cannes Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious film forums in the world. It is traditionally held in the city of the same name, in the Palais des Festivals on the Croisette. Every year, cinematographers come to the French Riviera. They consider it an honor to present their work at the Cannes Film Festival and walk the legendary red carpet.
Instructions
Step 1
The festival is, first of all, not the famous procession of stars. The main thing is film screenings. There are several programs of the film forum. The main competition takes place at the Lumiere Theater. There are shown 20 works from different countries. They are selected by the management of the competition. The Special Look program includes 20 paintings with an original theme or its embodiment. They are shown in the Debussy Chamber Hall.
Step 2
The Lumiere Theater also hosts out-of-competition screenings. Each time it includes a different number of films. Also out of competition, in parallel sections, they show pictures that reveal the diverse aspects of cinematography. Another out-of-competition program is the Cannes Classics. It includes famous works of the past and films about great masters.
Step 3
The Cinéfondation program includes about 15 works from directors from various world film schools. They are displayed in the Bunuel Hall. Within the framework of the "World Cinema", screenings of films of national cinema from various countries are organized every day.
Step 4
The "Short Films" program has its own jury and a special prize. Shows are held at Bunuel and Debussy. The project "Cinema on the Beach" allows you to watch in the open air, free of charge, films that have participated in the festival in the past.
Step 5
The lion's share of impressions are closed. It is impossible to buy tickets for them. Only invited guests and accredited journalists can get to the feast of the spirit. However, the management also arranges views for a wide range of viewers.
Step 6
The main prize of the film forum is the Golden Palm. It is awarded for Best Film. But there are other awards as well: Grand Prix; prize for the best actor, actress, director and screenwriter; jury prize; award for the best debut "Golden Camera"; Palme d'Or for Best Short Film.
Step 7
The jury votes in complete secrecy. Each of its members gives a nondisclosure agreement. For the final collection, everyone is taken to a remote place, even their mobile phones are confiscated. The chairman has a second vote. It may be needed when opinions are equally divided.
