Paul Bocuse is the world famous French master of culinary arts. Winner of a huge number of state awards and the most prestigious award among Michelin star restaurateurs.

Biography

In 1926, on February 11, Paul Bocuse was born into a family of hereditary culinary specialists. Looking at his father, the boy also wanted to work magic in the kitchen. Nevertheless, Paul chose an equally famous chef of the time, Claude Mare, as a mentor. At first, the master did not allow the guy to come to the stove. For a long time, Paul Bocuse was a "helper", his main and, in fact, the only task was to go to the markets and buy products, while very carefully checking the quality and freshness. It is worth noting that in the future this became the hallmark of the ingenious chef, he himself chose the products for his masterpieces.

When the Second World War began, studying with Claude Marais had to leave. Paul voluntarily went to the front. In the war, he demonstrated real bravery and courage, for which he was awarded the honorary award "For Military Merit". After the war, Paul returned home, but in order to continue learning his favorite craft, he had to find another mentor. It was Fernand Point. In the kitchen of this famous culinary specialist, Paul also did mostly black work: washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen and milking cows.

Career

Bocuse had real recognition only at the age of 35. Having gained experience, he returned to his father's restaurant, where he was actively engaged in changes in the menu and the expansion of the business. Thanks to the skills he gained from famous chefs, Paul achieved an incredible result and literally two years later, his father's establishment received the most prestigious award in the culinary world - the Michelin Star.

In 1975, the master of culinary was nominated for the first state award - the "Order of the Legion of Honor". In honor of this big event, Bocuse created another culinary masterpiece, black truffle soup, and named it after the head of state.

More than 10 years later, Bocuse was awarded an officer's rank in the Legion of Honor, and at the same time the legendary chef's own award, the Golden Bocuse, was instituted. The prize was received by the best chefs in France for their talents and unusual recipes.

One of the most famous publications in France awarded the talented chef and restaurateur the title of the best chef of the 20th century.

Personal life

Paul Bocuse is an extremely unusual person. Giving all of himself to the kitchen, he managed to live his whole life with three women. His beloved wife and two "official" mistresses accompanied the talented chef all his life. At the same time, as he himself liked to say: if you count all the years of loyalty to women who were important to him, then in total it will be 135 years.

Paul Bocuse passed away at the age of 92 on January 20, 2018. He was buried with all honors in the cemetery of the French city of Lyon.
