Mircea Lucescu is a famous Romanian footballer and coach. For a long time he worked at Shakhtar Donetsk, today he is the head coach of the Turkish national team.
Biography
On July 29, 1945 in the capital of Romania, Bucharest, the future footballer was born, and then the coach - Mircea Lucescu. The family was very large, in addition to Mircea, there were four more children. There was little money in the family, often the children themselves showed imagination and made toys for themselves from improvised materials. Among these was a homemade rag ball. It was almost impossible for them to play, but there were no other options.
After graduating from school, Mircea decided to continue his education and entered the capital university. Here he was able to fully play football, despite the high employment in his studies.
Career
After graduating from the university, Lucescu got into one of the best clubs in the country - Dynamo Bucharest. In this club, he spent almost his entire playing career. In just a couple of seasons, he became the undisputed leader of the team and received the coveted captain's armband. In the 1978 season he moved to another Romanian club, Corvinul, where he played for 5 years. Then he returned to Dynamo. In total, during his playing life, he appeared on the field 377 times and upset opponents 81 times with a goal.
Mircea Lucescu began his coaching career at the Romanian club Corvinul, he was also a player and was appointed head coach of the team. Thanks to his outstanding successes and high results, the Romanian Football Federation appointed him coach of the national team in 1981. And in 1985 he returned to where he started his playing career, in "Dynamo Bucharest", and continued his career there, but already as a mentor. With the team, he won the Romanian Championship in 1990, won the country's Cup twice.
But real success and recognition came to him after he took charge of Shakhtar Donetsk in 2004. He was able to build an almost invincible team. During his eleven years at the club, he led Shakhtar to victory in the national championship eight times. They have won the national cup six times and the super cup seven times. And in 2009 he won the UEFA Cup.
After Shakhtar, Mircea Lucescu moved to Russia and became the head of Zenit St. Petersburg. He spent only one season in the team. Despite one trophy (Russian Super Cup), Mircea left the team at the end of the season.
Since August 2017, he has been leading the Turkish national team. Throughout his coaching practice, Lutski has a very high win rate, almost 62%.
Personal life
The famous coach is married. The couple have a son, Razvan, who almost completely repeated the difficult path of his father. Having started his career as a football player, he retrained as a general manager. From 2009 to 2011, he coached the Romanian national team. And since 2017, he has been managing the Greek PAOK.
