Anatoly Shariy is a man whose name is heard today. After all, he writes and creates bright materials on topical topics. And besides, he is a fighter against the regime, due to which he became persona non grata in his homeland. How and how Anatoly Shariy lives today, and how he went to the top of his career ladder, interests many.
Today, a lot of attention is riveted on various journalists acting in the political arena. One of these is Anatoly Shariy, a Ukrainian journalist and video blogger. He is known for his articles and videos, which many call accusatory. The public loves him, first of all, for the reason that he conducts investigative journalism for each material, and does not reprint data from the network.
Childhood shark feather
Biography of Anatoly Sharia begins on August 20, 1978. The future famous journalist was born in Kiev.
As a small child, Anatoly learned to read - and he did it very early. By the age of seven, most of his parental library was already in his literary asset. And he also got acquainted with rather serious "adult" works - Remarque and Bulgakov. The family could be proud of the boy, because at school he won Olympiads and received certificates of honor.
Photography became another hobby of childhood and a splash of creativity for the child. Anatoly also wrote poetry. When the child entered adolescence, the father left the family. And Sharia's life became more complicated, because it was difficult for his mother to raise him with his sister alone. There was not enough money, so the dream of continuing education in the field of history had to be forgotten and abandoned.
After school, Anatoly went to enter a tank school. His choice fell on the regimental intelligence faculty. At the same time, he did not become a professional military man. As the journalist himself notes, he became interested in games and even calls himself a gambling addict. However, he had enough fortitude to pull himself together and stop. The beloved girl also helped.
But it was the gambling business that partially helped him in his formation and career as a journalist. After all, here he faced serious pitfalls and nuances of hard-hitting business conduct, which later became his support when hanging various materials.
Journalistic career
The work of a journalist has become a springboard for Sharii to a new life. In 2005, he began writing small articles for psychological magazines. His track record includes such publications as "Natalie" and "The only one". However, he was not going to write on these topics for a long time and quickly enough switched to acute social issues.
The list of his interests included such problems of society as drug trafficking, gambling business, including illegal ones, the operation of orphanages, kidnapping of children and attracting them to begging, etc. In 2007, he published a rather high-profile article entitled "Why does a child sleep." It told about professional beggars who put children to sleep with drugs or alcohol, so that during the "working day" they would not interfere with them begging for money on the streets and in crossings. Moreover, the material said that such prohibited methods were used in relation to infants.
Another landmark piece was the Public Orphanage. In it, the journalist conducted an investigation into the employees of the orphanage, who offered certain people who drove up to the orphanage for the purpose of actually prostitution.
Quite soon, against the background of such investigations, Shariy's career went uphill, and he headed the investigation department of the major Ukrainian publication Observer. Then he was able to turn around so much that he turned into a real threat to the officials, who were dishonest, and the police.
At first they tried to just put a spoke in his wheels, later they switched to natural bullying. Criminal cases were fabricated against him, in which he was taken endlessly for interrogations, and searches were regularly carried out in his apartment as part of the investigation of these cases. They also took away his car, installed a wiretap on his phone and restricted his movement.
Shariy tried to deal with his offenders in different ways. First, he wrote appeals to the Presidential Administration, the Prosecutor General's Office, the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, etc. However, there was no answer from them. In 2011, an attempt was made on Anatoly's life when a shot was shot at his car. True, fortunately, the journalist did not suffer from this action.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, however, came to the conclusion that this was a staging. Then he again opened two criminal cases … against Shariy himself. Foreign human rights activists, considering all these situations with an open mind, noted that the attitude towards Anatoly Shariy can be called discrimination against journalists in Ukraine.
After he began to face a real prison term, the journalist had no choice but to escape from the territory of the country. He chose the European Union, where he asked for asylum. But he did not sit just like that and did not restrain his ardor. After the events in Odessa in 2014, Shariy began to run his own channel on YouTube. On it, he covered the reality in Ukraine and exposed various fakes that he heard from the media.
Anatolia's channel is quite profitable and has a large number of subscribers. At the same time, not only fans of the journalist's work are watching him. Videos from it are regularly removed, and the channel was completely closed three times - the reason was the violation of copyright. In response, Shariy was able to prove the legality of his actions, and the channel resumed its activities.
