The procedure for receiving a parcel from abroad does not differ from a similar dispatch within the country. However, a parcel from another country may take longer to reach the addressee due to customs clearance and a longer chain of travel between postal services.

Step 1
The reason for a visit to the post office, as in the case of any postal item, except for simple and registered letters without notification of delivery, which are simply thrown into the box, is a notification that the parcel addressed to you has been delivered at the post office.
Therefore, if you know that a package (or other shipment) has been sent to you, carefully check your mailbox. In case of delay, ask the sender to provide you with the international postal identifier shown on his receipt. With its help, you can track the fate of the expected shipment through the sites of the Russian post office and a similar foreign service.
Step 2
After receiving the notification, fill in the required fields on the back of it.
You will need to indicate your last name, first name and patronymic, the number and series of your passport, the name of the issuing authority and the date of issue.
If you are registered at the same address where the parcel arrived, the field for the registration address can be left blank. In other cases, you will have to do this.
You must also indicate the date of receipt of the parcel and put your signature. But it is better not to rush, but to do it after the parcel is delivered to you.
Step 3
With the completed application, go to the post office - to the department whose number is indicated in the notification.
Wait for your turn and show the operator your notice and passport. He will check whether the data in these documents match, and if the result is positive, he will hand you the parcel.
If the integrity of the package is not violated and there are no discrepancies in weight (there are cases when the data does not coincide with the accompanying papers during the check weighing), no additional formalities are needed anymore. If something is wrong, the operator will invite the head of the department, in whose presence you can check if everything is in order.
