Despite the fact that the consumer protection law was introduced a long time ago, Russian buyers remain timid in asserting their rights, although they have plenty of privileges under this law.
If for some reason you decide to return the purchase to the store (changed your mind, or the purchased item did not fit in size, or turned out to be defective), you need to pay attention to the following points:
1. Try to find a receipt. But if the check is accidentally lost or thrown away by you, this is not a reason to be upset. In this case, you can refer to the testimony of witnesses, tags and labels, branded bags of the store in which the purchase was packaged. The return of the purchase is made within fourteen days from the date of purchase.
2. If you find a defect, then the store is obliged to take back the defective product. For this, the warranty period is allocated. But in some cases, in order to prove the existence of a defect, the buyer himself must send the goods for examination. If the examination proves the consumer is right, he has the right to demand from the store either the replacement of the thing, or its repair and markdown, or a refund.
3. If the product was purchased during sales, this does not mean that it cannot be exchanged or returned. A sale is just a smart marketing ploy for a store to sell an old collection. If the product was discounted due to the presence of a defect, it will still be correct to change or return the purchase, but only if you find another defect that was not warned about.
4. The Consumer Protection Act also applies to Internet commerce. According to the amendment to the law on consumer protection, the courier, upon delivery of the goods, must inform you about the return information within seven days, even if you have no doubts about its quality when accepting the goods. But sometimes firms engaged in Internet trade hide their data with an address and TIN. In this case, the law provides for the right to return the goods within three months. And for the quickest search for an unknown Internet company, experts advise contacting the tax office.
The expression "The customer is always right" is a reality in the USA and Europe. But because of this, many stores have problems and claims, because some buyers abuse their rights and begin to use the store as a rental of clothes and household appliances.
Remember that personal hygiene items, medicines, cosmetics and perfumes, fabrics, animals and plants, household chemicals, weapons and ammunition, agrochemicals, books, furniture, cars, underwear, stockings and tights are not subject to return.
