Biography
Vladimir Korchagin was born in 1924 on October 14 in the city of Kazan. Like other children of that time, he studied in an ordinary Soviet school. He did not have time to finish it due to the fact that he began to work very early, and then the Great Patriotic War began. He continued his studies after the war. In 1951, after graduating from the geological faculty of the university of his city, he continues to receive his education, becomes a candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences.
After graduate school, he works as a teacher at the university, is constantly engaged in science. Having received the title of associate professor, he gives 36 years of his life to Kazan University. Works in it in various positions.
Writer's creativity
Vladimir Vladimirovich did not start writing at once. The idea of starting to write matured only by the 60s of the last century. Having connected fate with geology and work at the Faculty of Geology, he collected material. Therefore, it is not surprising that the heroes of his books were those people who always walked alongside him through life. These people were students whom he taught, prospectors of the earth's interior, geologists-colleagues. The novice writer put all his impressions and emotions into the creation of his first book entitled "The Mystery of the River of Evil Spirits." This book became a real bestseller in those years. She told the story of three young men who got on a geological expedition to the taiga. The author, based on his impressions, recreates the beauty of nature. Tells what secrets she hides in her bowels. The book has been reprinted many times. After this adventurous and informative book, which was published in 1962, the following, no less interesting and readable works of the author were published ("The Way to the Pass" (1968), "Astiian Edelweiss" (1982), "The End of the Legend" (1984), " In the Name of Humanity”(1989),“Prisoners of Fear”(1991),“Woman in Black”(2002),“Two Lives”(2004),“The Secret of the Taiga Camp”(2007).
In 2000, one of the author's books was awarded the Derzhavin Prize - it was the story "Foundling". Korchagin's works were highly appreciated not only by readers, but also by his fellow writers. Vladimir Vladimirovich was not only a science fiction writer. He also wrote books in other genres. As a teacher and scientist, he was the author of textbooks on geology, wrote monographs.
Member of the Writers' Union and public figure
In 1984 Vladimir Korchagin joined the Writers' Union of the Republic of Tatarstan.
He immediately began to head the Russian department of the union. Korchagin not only writes his works, but is also engaged in social activities: he helps young writers, he is often invited to meetings at schools, institutes, libraries, and houses of culture. He not only wrote beautifully, but was also a wonderful reader and storyteller.
Personal life
Very little is known about the personal life of the writer Korchagin. He devoted himself entirely to science and literature. According to his contemporaries, he was a kind, cheerful and responsive person. Always striving to help others. He passed away on December 26, 2012.
