Step 1
The country must first select an artist and a song. The minimum age for all participants is 16. There is a separate Junior Eurovision Song Contest for performers under the specified age.
Step 2
The nationality of the participant does not matter. Any performer can represent a country without even being a citizen of it. Singers are prohibited from appearing on stage in an obscene manner and committing provocative actions.
Step 3
Only one song from each country can participate in the competition, so it must be selected with great care. You need to choose a new song for Eurovision, which was not performed before September 1 (or October) of the previous year. The song should be no more than three minutes long.
Step 4
The use of phonogram is prohibited, the performer must sing live. There should be no more than six artists on stage at the same time, so you can use the accompaniment recording (backing vocals do not count). The song can be performed in any language.
Step 5
The composition must not be publicly or commercially distributed before a certain date, which is set by competition. You cannot vote for a participant representing the country to viewers. For a fairer calculation of points, a professional jury was introduced. This innovation was created because of the "neighbor" vote. After the performance of all the songs, the voting itself begins, for which 15 minutes are allotted. The points of viewers and the expert jury are summed up by half.
Step 6
All votes for each country are counted and summed up separately. The results are transmitted by satellite from each country. According to the voting results, the 10 best songs are revealed. A certain number of points is allocated for each place occupied: the first place - 12 points, the second - 10, and from the third to the tenth - 8-1 points. The winning country gets the right to host the next competition at home.
Step 7
The numbers of the performances are determined by drawing lots. Due to the large number of participants in the competition, semi-finals have been created, which must be passed by all countries except the host country (Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy and France). The participants who took from the first to the tenth places go to the final. The Eurovision winner signs a contract with the European Broadcasting Union, according to which he undertakes to attend all tours and events created by EBU.
Step 8
To become a participant in the competition, you must submit an application, which consists of several documents. Write a questionnaire, indicate full surname, name and patronymic, as well as date of birth, place of birth and place of residence with postal code. Exactly the same questionnaires are needed for each member of a musical and dance group, if any.
Step 9
It is imperative to write a statement by the author or authors of the lyrics and music of the composition that this song is original, has never been used commercially, was created by creative labor and can legally be performed by a candidate. In this text, also indicate the passport data and the date of preparation, sign.
Step 10
Make up two versions of the text of the verses of your claimed song - in Russian and in English. Attach two phonograms, with and without accompaniment, recorded by the applicant on a CD or mini-disc. The recording of the performer's performance on stage must be on DVD.
Step 11
