The Slavs are the oldest and most numerous family of peoples, rightfully proud of their history. Unfortunately, Russian contemporaries are extremely poorly informed about the life of their ancestors in pre-Christian times. The most ancient and original source about the pre-Christian history of Russia is "Veles's Book", which describes events from the 9th century BC to the 9th century AD (the times of Rurik, Askold and Dir). The authenticity of the modern "Veles Book", like the authenticity of "The Lay of Igor's Campaign", was repeatedly questioned - the text of the book was first published on paper in 1950 by a certain Yu. P. Mirolyubov, however, despite this, he is an important and reliable source on the history of Russia before the time of Christianity.

The presentation of the book is presented in the form of an unknown Slavic language, which is very difficult to translate and understand. Nevertheless, the Veles Book contains a wealth of information about the monotheistic Old Russian faith, which considered all gods and spirits to be hypostases of the Great and One God - the Father. It also describes the knowledge of the pre-Christian Rus about the holiday of the Trinity, the presence of paradise and the immortality of the human soul. For the first time "Veles's book" was discovered during the Civil War - then it was a wooden board covered with incomprehensible letters.

To date, a large number of books have appeared in the world that describe an alternative history of pre-Christian Russia. Their publication has not only an educational purpose, but is also a way of commercial earnings for writers. Such books include books by A. Tyunyaev, action films about the times of pagan Russia by Lev Prozorov, books of "New Chronology" by G. Nosovsky and A. Fomenko, as well as the books "Discovery of Khazaria", "From Russia to Russia", "Rhythms of Eurasia" and "Ancient Russia and the Great Steppe", written by Lev Gumilev.
Modern journalists often call their essays and articles with loud titles such as "The Whole Truth About Russia in the Times of Pre-Christianity" in order to attract attention.
Also among the reliable books about the history of pre-Christian Russia are "The Ancient History of the Slavs and Slavs-Russ" by the Russian nobleman Yegor Klassen. In the reprint of three volumes of his work, the text of the original is fully preserved, and the decoration and illustrations are performed anew.
