The beginning of cooperation with the studio was unsuccessful for the group. All the songs released on discs were not successful, and the studio began to look for a new image for them.
At first, Diana performed in backing vocals and only thanks to one of the studio representatives - Berry Gordy - Diana was offered to take the leading place in the group. It was he who decided that the girl has an amazing voice combined with incredible charisma that can attract the attention of the public.
In his choice, Berry was not mistaken, and after the recording of the first single, the group reached the top lines of the charts. From the following year, Supremes and Diana's careers developed rapidly. New songs, written by famous composers, became hits, and the group climbed to the first positions in the American music charts. Some critics have even compared their success with the legendary The Beatles.
After a while, Diana's image and her voice, which made a lasting impression on the public, began to overshadow the other members of the group, which led to conflict. As a result, only two soloists remained in the collective, and the group became known as Diana Ross & the Supremes.
Diana Ross decided to leave the band in 1970 and pursue a solo career. This event was the sunset for the Supremes. Without its main vocalist, the group ceased to be in demand. The concerts attracted less and less audience, and after a few years the team completely stopped their performances.
