Diana Ross has had a dizzying musical career. She is included in the list of the most famous artists and in the TOP-100 of the greatest rock singers. The singer celebrated her 75th birthday at the 61st American Recording Grammy Awards in 2019 by performing at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Creative way

Diana was born in America, in Detroit, Michigan, in 1944, on March 26, where her entire large family lived. From early childhood, the girl was attracted to creativity, and she began to sing literally from birth. Her musical biography began at school, where she sang in children's ensembles and very quickly decided on her vocation.

In 1959, the first female music group, Primettes, was organized, where Diana became the soloist. A year later, she was noticed by one of the producers of the small recording studio Lupine, where the girl, together with her group, recorded the first single.

The further fate of the collective was taken under his wing by the chief producer of the Motown Records studio Berry Gordy, having heard one of their performances and offered the young performers a contract. The group changed its name to Supremes and in the end there were only three vocalists, one of which was Diana.

Supremes and Diana

The beginning of cooperation with the studio was unsuccessful for the group. All the songs released on discs were not successful, and the studio began to look for a new image for them.

At first, Diana performed in backing vocals and only thanks to one of the studio representatives - Berry Gordy - Diana was offered to take the leading place in the group. It was he who decided that the girl has an amazing voice combined with incredible charisma that can attract the attention of the public.

In his choice, Berry was not mistaken, and after the recording of the first single, the group reached the top lines of the charts. From the following year, Supremes and Diana's careers developed rapidly. New songs, written by famous composers, became hits, and the group climbed to the first positions in the American music charts. Some critics have even compared their success with the legendary The Beatles.

After a while, Diana's image and her voice, which made a lasting impression on the public, began to overshadow the other members of the group, which led to conflict. As a result, only two soloists remained in the collective, and the group became known as Diana Ross & the Supremes.

Diana Ross decided to leave the band in 1970 and pursue a solo career. This event was the sunset for the Supremes. Without its main vocalist, the group ceased to be in demand. The concerts attracted less and less audience, and after a few years the team completely stopped their performances.

Diana's solo career

The premiere of the first song with which Diana appeared in public was met with little enthusiasm. Success came with the release of the second single, which very quickly rose to the first lines of the charts. The combination of pop music with the direction of soul was enthusiastically received by the audience not only in America, but also in Europe. In the following years, Diana released many popular albums and gave concerts at the country's leading venues. She begins working with filmmakers, recording soundtracks for popular films.

From that moment on, she became not only a singer, but also a film actress. Her first role was very warmly received by the public and critics. Diana was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress, and the film's soundtrack has long held the top of the US charts.

All her subsequent albums and singles took first places in the charts of America and England. All these years she collaborated with the recording studio Motown and through successful production became a famous performer for many years. However, Diana broke off relations with the label after 20 years of successful work and moved on to work with RCA Records and Capitol Records, at the same time starting to create her own company.

In the 1980s, the singer changed her direction in music and began performing popular disco songs. Her compositions still occupy the first positions in chats, and the song "Muscles" is written and produced for her by the famous Michael Jackson. More than 700 thousand spectators gather for the solo concert that Diana Ross gives in New York in the open air.
