Professionalism is a combination of hard work and talent. And Mario Sorrenti also has the ability to see the world from a unique perspective. This is what made him a legend in the field of photography. Let's get acquainted with the biography, style features and achievements of the famous photographer.
How did it all begin?
Mario Sorrenti was born on October 24, 1971 into a creative family in Naples (Italy). His mother was an advertising agent and his father was an artist. In addition to Mario, the parents raised two more children: David and Vanina, who later also became photographers.
In 1981, the Sorrenti family moved to New York. A colorful metropolis with an abundance of colors and movement became the main inspiration for the future photographer Mario. His hobby appeared after the first works of his brother David. The latter is responsible for the creation of the direction "heroin chic" in photography. This is an image of very skinny models without losing their grace and attractiveness. However, due to drug addiction, David died when he was barely 20 years old, and Mario wrote a book in memory of his brother.
First successes
Coming out of his brother's shadow after the tragedy, Sorrenti took part in the Obsession advertising campaign for the famous Calvin Klein brand. The model then was the young and unknown Kate Moss. The shooting took place in nature, and the result of this creative tandem was incredible, stylish photographs that were exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Monaco. This was the first high-profile success of Mario Sorrenti.
Confession
In 2004, a personal exhibition of the photographer was held in New York. Everything was done in a loft style: furnishings, clippings from magazines and newspapers, Polaroid shots depicting graceful naked girls with disheveled hair.
The exhibition had the desired effect on the visitors. Soon, Mario was invited to conduct a portrait photo shoot of actress Winona Ryder. And in 2008, Sorrenti's work was published in the November issue of Parisian Vogue. It was shooting "30 versus 17", the main models of which were Anna Selezneva and Eva Herzigova.
Since then, Mario Sorrenti has been actively collaborating with the brands Max Mara, Kenzo, Mango, Bulgari, Armani and others. His photographs are regularly published in the magazines GQ, Playboy, Vogue.
Style
Critics call Sorrenti not just a photographer, but an artist. He creates a special atmosphere on the set, is attentive to details, sees and reveals human beauty from unexpected sides. His photographs convey simplicity, innocence and luxury, frankness at the same time. They fascinate and inspire. Everything that the legendary photographer's hand touches becomes a masterpiece of art and, in a commercial sense, a successful brand.
