Biography and sports career of Dmitry Alenichev

The future footballer was born on October 20, 1972 in the village of Melioratorov near the town of Velikiye Luki. From childhood, the boy was attracted to the ball game. So Dmitry disappeared all day with his peers on the football field.

Alenichev received his first football education in the "Chaika" team from Velikiye Luki. Soon he was noticed and invited to the "Mashinostroitel" team from Pskov. This team played in the second league of the USSR championship. Dmitry immediately joined the squad and began to play on a regular basis.

Moscow Lokomotiv became interested in the young midfielder, and Alenichev spent the next two seasons in the shirt of this team. Dmitry on the field was distinguished by confidence in her actions and a very smart game. He directed the team's offensive actions and helped Lokomotiv to take 4th place in the first Russian championship after the collapse of the USSR. This allowed the team to compete in the UEFA Cup, where the railroad went to Juventus from Turin. The team suffered two defeats and was eliminated from the tournament. But Alenichev's good performance allowed him to move to Spartak Moscow. In those years it was the best team in Russia.

Dmitry's debut in Spartak came in 1994, and he immediately took the place of the central midfielder. The team played fast combination football, and Alenichev found the main club of his life. For four years at the club, Dmitry several times became the champion of the country and the winner of the cup. He spent his best season in 1997, when he was recognized as the best footballer in Russia.

In 1998, Spartak made a splash in Europe when he reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals. And this was the great merit of Alenichev. After a successful season, he was offered to move to play in Italy for Roma.

In the new championship, Dmitry did not immediately get used to it and began the season on the bench. But then he joined the roster and had an excellent ending. The next year, the coach changed in Roma, who did not really count on the Russian midfielder. So Alenichev moved to Perugia and helped the team stay in the elite division. After that, the Portuguese Porto drew attention to him.

This transition was the most important in his football career. The first two years, Porto was pretty feverish, and the team did not know victories in tournaments. But in 2002 the club was headed by Jose Mourinho. He found a common language with the players and built a new model of the game. Alenichev constantly played in the starting lineup in position under the forwards and scored a lot. Over the next two seasons, Dmitry won the Portuguese Championship and Cup twice, and also won the UEFA Cup and Champions League. Moreover, he scored goals in both major finals of his life.

After winning seasons, Alenichev returned to Spartak in 2004. But this was already the first step towards the end of his career. Two years later, Dmitry announced the end of his football career. And the farewell match took place only in 2008, when the stars of Spartak and Real Madrid met on the field of the Lokomotiv stadium.

Dmitry regularly throughout his career was called up under the banner of the Russian national team and managed to play 55 matches for it and take part in two major tournaments.

After completing his career, Alenichev went into politics and became the representative of the Omsk region in the Federation Council. But the love of football overcame itself. In 2010, Dmitry became a coach and headed the Russian youth team. Then he worked as a coach in the Tula Arsenal, Spartak and the Krasnoyarsk Yenisei, where he works to this day. This year, Alenichev took Yenisey to the Russian Premier League for the first time in the club's history.
