Since its inception, television has managed to firmly gain a foothold in every home, continuing to develop in various formats. However, this happens differently in each country. The most significant differences can be observed if we compare Western and domestic TV.

Combating violence and mentality

According to statistics, TV is watched in Russia 2 times more often than in the West. However, this is not at all an indicator that the level of quality of the provided content is much higher. Rather, it is the predisposition of the mentality and lifestyle that determines such data.

Such a massive and high-tech invention as television, it would seem, should have led to a rise in morality along with the social cohesion of society. In fact, everything turned out to be completely different. Not so long ago, in a free and liberated country in the United States, there were many fighters for human rights, and, of course, officials who showed concern for morality as part of their political program. However, today one can observe a significant weakening of the forces that are fighting for morality on Western television.

Several decades ago in the United States, there were numerous bans on heavy exposure of sex and violence on TV.

Features of cinematography

It should also be noted the specificity of Western cinema and its detrimental effect on morality. Many films contain violent murder scenes, erotica, drug use and other immoral things. This makes the film quite popular, which forces directors to be more sophisticated every time they create a new picture. Numerous studies show that citizens of the United States are increasingly drawn to watching the dramatic events of terrorist attacks, high-profile scandals or natural disasters, while the interest in politics is actually receding into the background.

Contemporary domestic cinema is more focused on comedies and historical films. With the growing popularity of humorous programs, more and more comedies appear on TV screens, in which well-known personalities play. Also, a lot of attention is paid to crime fighters and sequels to the masterpieces of Soviet cinema. The topic of crime and thieves' life in Russian cinema in recent years has become as relevant as ever.

In Russia, one can observe a more firm position in terms of morals: no matter how TV imposed blood, tragedies and violence, the people still do not accept them strongly.

At the same time, recent events related to Ukraine have significantly raised interest in politics and news broadcasts, because now you can observe the real lawlessness, the struggle for power. Considering the fact that many people have family ties in the neighboring country, the level of influence of television in the domestic space is becoming stronger, however, this applies mainly to the older generation.
