Yulia Vladimirovna Drunina is a poetess, a front-line soldier, through all her work the theme of war has run like a red thread.

I sometimes feel connected

Between those who are alive

And who was taken away by the war …

Origins

Muscovite Drunina, whose biography began on May 10, 1924 and ended on November 21, 1991, grew up in a family of Soviet intellectuals: a teacher-historian and musician. As a child, I read books by A. Dumas and L. Charskaya. In them, she learned the ideas of romance, chivalry, courage and struggle, carrying them through her whole life.

She began to engage in creativity early, mainly her poems were used in the design of school wall newspapers, but young Julia could already feel the taste of fame. And when one of the poems was published in the "Uchitelskaya Gazeta", the child's joy knew no bounds.

The happy youth was cut short by the war. The joy of the prom was crossed out by the scary message. The harsh reality instantly kicked out of the poems of the novice poet "and gypsies, and cowboys, and pampas with stripes, and beautiful ladies." Now the heroes of the works are those with whom her front-line life has passed side by side.

I've only seen hand-to-hand combat …

Guided by patriotic impulses, Julia strove to become useful to the country in a hard time. The girl even went to forge documents, and, attributing a year to herself, got a job as a nurse, then graduated from nursing courses. In the fall of 1941, when the enemy was striving for Moscow, she and her friends were sent to build defensive fortifications near Mozhaisk. During the next raid, many of the group died, and Yulia, slightly shell-shocked, was lost and was picked up by a group of military men, with whom her life at the front began.

Escaping from the encirclement and once again in the capital, she leaves for evacuation with her father, who needs care after a stroke. But it is unbearable for her to sit in the rear. When her father is gone, she does everything possible to find herself in a combat situation again.

In 1943, due to her serious injury, she was commissioned for disability, and the front-line soldier again ends up in Moscow. She makes an attempt to enter the Literary Institute, but the commission did not like her poems, she was refused.

But the medical commission recognizes her return to the front as possible. Then again a contusion and the final "white ticket".

In 1944, a front-line soldier and a disabled soldier, who came in the middle of the educational process in a darned greatcoat and tarpaulin boots, no one could prohibit studying at the institute. At first, however, a free listener.

Creative way

For a number of reasons, she was able to graduate from the institute only in 52nd. In the victorious 1945, for the first time, poems by Drunina were published, created from front-line memories.

In 47, Yulia Vladimirovna became a member of the Writers' Union. Her financial situation is getting better, and most importantly - now it is possible to publish collections. The next year, the first is released. The theme is still the same - about front-line friends and military roads. Subsequently, the collections were published regularly.

Along with poems, Julia Drunina also published two stories and journalism. She does a lot of social work, travels abroad, meets with readers.

Drunin accepts the perestroika that has begun with all his heart and supports. In 90, he became a deputy of the Supreme Soviet, trying to improve the situation of former front-line soldiers and participants in the Afghan war by his actions. Realizing all the futility of the struggle with businessmen "with iron elbows" stops attending meetings and leaves power.

In the historic days of August 91, a Russian patriot is among the defenders of the White House, and after a while she suddenly decides to give up her life.

For her creative and social activities, Yulia Vladimirovna Drunina has repeatedly received state awards and prizes.

But still I am not happier …

The young poetess met her first enthusiastic feeling of love in the trenches. With a slight sadness, the image of an unknown "battalion commander" who died before her eyes emerges in her works.

As a student, Julia meets with a classmate, marries him. It was the front-line poet Nikolai Starshinov. In marriage, the only daughter of Drunina, Elena, is born. The spouses live in a difficult material respect, besides, the wife is not at all adapted to everyday life. The family breaks up in the 60th year.

And only the second marriage brings true happiness to a woman. Julia met Alexei Yakovlevich Kapler in the 54th year, feelings arose, but for six long years she remained faithful to her first husband, and married Alexei only when he divorced. Their life together is 19 years of endless happiness. The death of her husband drives the poetess into depression, she does not communicate with anyone for a long time, except for her daughter.

A fighter in essence of her life, hardened by war, firm in character, Yulia Drunina, could not survive the loss of her husband and the collapse of her beloved country with all her heart. She voluntarily went into oblivion, writing several letters and leaving a dying poem that explained everything.
