Already at the beginning of 2009, he announced that work on the second part of the picture was underway, and the start of filming was scheduled for the autumn of the same year. Even a budget of $ 150 million was announced, but later the production of the film was postponed.
In 2012, Timur Bekmambetov said in an interview that he had a new idea for the continuation of the action movie. And in 2013, they started talking about his script, for the writing of which two performers were involved at once: Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. Those, in turn, shared a little about their plans.
The action of the picture will take place 4 years after the events described in the first part. The hero of the film, Wesley Gibson, who has already become a real professional, will meet a girl who finds herself in the same situation as he was at the beginning. Wesley will recruit her and teach her killer skills. He decides to help her in the same way as he was once helped. All the heroes who died in the first part will not be resurrected - this is a fact, so we should expect new ones. Although a few years ago, there were rumors about the return of Angelina Jolie in this sequel. Currently, there is information that Kristen Stewart was invited by Timur Bekmambetov to play the main character. Rumor has it that they have already met and discussed the details of the plot of the new film.
Currently, work on the film is already "in full swing". Its release is scheduled for 2015. It remains only to wait a little and hope that the project will be implemented.
