Children's writer, TV presenter, author of fascinating scripts. All this is about Grigory Oster. At school, he strove to write poetry for adults. But I quickly realized that the most grateful reading public is children. That is why Oster dedicated his many years of creative career to children and girls, earning their love and gratitude.
From the biography of Grigory Bentsionovich Oster
The future writer was born on November 27, 1947 in Odessa. Then the family moved to Yalta. The boy's mother worked as a librarian - it was she who instilled in him a love of books and reading. In high school, Grigory became interested in poetry and even wrote poetry himself.
After graduating from school, Oster went to serve in the army. The service took place in the Northern Fleet. Having retired, Grigory entered the correspondence department of the drama faculty of the Literary Institute. Oster combined his studies with work. He worked as a night watchman.
Grigory Oster: the path to literature
Oster began his career with a collection of poems that he wrote at the age of 16. The works were intended for an adult audience and had the status of solid lyricism. Oster's book of poems was published in 1974, when he was still in the army. However, the editors conscientiously worked on the collection and removed many of the poems from it. This correction upset the novice poet very much.
When the years of study at the university came to an end, Grigory Bentsionovich firmly decided for himself that he would not compose for an adult audience. He was oppressed by the need to weave communist propaganda into stories, novels and poems. And it was more difficult to break through to the heights among writers "for adults" in those years.
The writer later admitted that he turned to children's literature only for reasons of survival. But then he got involved. He liked such creativity.
Oster became famous when he saw the light of a collection for children entitled "How good it is to give gifts." In this book, the reader first met four funny characters: Boa constrictor, Parrot, Elephant and Monkey. Subsequently, these characters migrated to television screens: they could be seen in the animated films "38 Parrots" and "Grandma Boa Constrictor".
At the same time, Grigory Bentsionovich gained recognition in the field of drama: in 1976, the play "Man with a Tail" was performed in the country's puppet theaters. A couple of years later, with the light hand of Auster, a kitten named Woof was born. The tale was subsequently filmed.
Author of "Bad Advice"
However, the name of Grigory Oster is primarily associated with the public with "Bad advice". They began just as a scattering of small poems that were being prepared for publication in magazines.
Oster's first bad advice was published in 1983. The little readers liked the idea very much. But the parents did not immediately understand the salt of the advice “vice versa”. It took a while for the adults to figure out what the highlight is. After a while, "Harmful Advice" became a separate literary genre. The author found many imitators and followers.
Grigory Oster considers "A Tale with Details" to be one of his best works. However, would-be publishers of this unusual novel apparently had a different opinion: the editors did not line up for this work.
Work in cinematography and animation became an integral part of Oster's work. Since the beginning of the 80s, Grigory Bentsionovich began to create scripts for children's films. His first works on this literary springboard were "How a Gosling Lost" and "Boy and Girl". Oster collaborated with many renowned filmmakers to create animated films. Among them:
- Lev Atamanov;
- Vyacheslav Kotenochkin;
- Maya Miroshkina;
- Vladimir Baker.
Several plots of Auster's stories were used as the basis for the performances. For example, the School of Modern Play organized a production based on Bad Advice. More than once Oster had to compose plot scripts for "Yeralash".
The writer received his first significant award in 1996. It was the Golden Key Audience Award. A few years later Oster became the owner of the State Prize of the country in the field of literature and art. Then there was the Chukovsky Literary Prize. In 2007, Grigory Oster was awarded the high title - he became an Honored Art Worker of Russia.
Grigory Bentsionovich is a member of the team that develops a special state website for the younger generation. It is assumed that this resource in a simple and accessible form will tell schoolchildren about how the authorities work. Oster does this work voluntarily and free of charge.
For two years, Grigory Oster, together with the singer Glucose, hosted the television program "Children's pranks". The main prize in this game project was the sum of money.
Oster wrote a series of playful textbooks on mathematics and physics, calling them "beloved manuals." The goal of this literary project is not only to teach children to count and solve problems, but also to develop their imagination and sense of humor. Here are some of the sciences that a cheerful author came up with for children:
- "Nothing knowledge";
- "Vrititeura";
- "Candy Eating".
The heroes of Auster's works are able to parody the behavior of children. They are very true to the home and school atmosphere. Critics and readers find that Grigory Oster's books are filled with verbal finds, full of mysteries and interesting facts about the world around him. The writer's works do not so much teach, but entertain, develop, teach to think, to introduce children to creativity.
The writer's language is rich in content. The abundance of invented words and amusing characters do not let children get bored. At the same time, Oster always touches on important topics in his tales and poems. He talks about the culture of behavior, about safety, about relationships between people.
Oster believes that you should always be honest with your little reader. An adult can be fooled; this trick will not work with a child. Children are very sensitive to falsehood. This talented children's writer knows better than many other adults.
Personal life of Grigory Oster
The children's writer has been married four times. Oster claims that he managed to maintain good and friendly relations with all his ex-wives. It's all about his soft, accommodating and peaceful nature. The current wife of Grigory Bentsionovich is called Maya Georgievna.

Four other children were born in the next marriage. The writer is already growing up two adorable granddaughters.
Grigory Bentsionovich still loves to read. He repeatedly rereads Dumas's novel about the adventures of the Musketeers - and each time he finds in this book something new and unusual for himself.
