The path to the profession of an actor was not easy for Garrett Dillahunt and began quite late: he worked as a journalist when he began to look closely at the work of actors and understand that this occupation could also be close to him. And after that, he did not immediately decide to leave journalism.
However, today he has become a rather popular actor, and at his age everything is still possible - all unplayed roles and unreleased films are still ahead. Moreover, for several years ahead, he has plans for shooting.
Biography
Garrett Dillahunt was born in 1964 in Castro Valley, California. After the family moved to Washington State, he graduated from high school and then from the University of Washington, Department of Journalism. Then he finished his postgraduate studies, that is, he wanted to do this profession seriously. However, he was soon "drawn to the stage," and he was cast in one of the Broadway theaters.
And the hectic life of a musical artist began with a whirlwind of roles and performances, with applause from the audience, who are usually very different on Broadway. Over time, it seemed to Garrett that he was not quite in place here. He wanted to expand the boundaries of the profession and try himself in the cinema.
The easiest way was to get on television, and Dillahant began attending auditions for television projects. Soon he got into the TV series "Deadwood" (2004-2009), where he played a sharpie. A year later, he appeared in the same project, only in a different role.
The directors and producers saw how hardworking Garrett was and how he invested in each scene, and soon he already got a regular role in the series "Four Thousand Four Hundred" (2004-2007).
Film career
Success awaited Dillahant the moment he joined the team that starred in the TV series Ambulance. He managed to participate in several seasons of this project, and thanks to the role of Steve, other directors began to invite him. As a result, from 2000 to 2009, he was on the set of several projects.
A characteristic feature: he was given exclusively negative roles. In one series, he played a Russian gangster, in another - a serial killer and the like.
As the actors say, it's difficult to get out of one role, so Garrett also played villains in full-length films. So, in the film "Fanatic" he created the image of a neo-Nazi. And suddenly a sharp turn, and the role of Jesus Christ. True, the picture divided the audience into its admirers and irreconcilable critics. However, Dillahant's play was recognized as flawless.
There is a period in the life of an actor when he tried himself as a director, together with his colleagues taking part in the filming of the series "Raising Hope" (2010-2014). He also played in several seasons of the project. It is not known whether Dillahant will continue his directing activity - so far, his plans only include shooting in full-length films as an actor.
Personal life
During the filming of Ambulance, Garrett met actress Michelle Hurd. Colleagues saw the interest of the filming partners to each other, but no one assumed that the business would end in a wedding, because they either converged or diverged. However, now Garrett and Michelle are husband and wife, and they are happy with each other. They have no children yet.
