Children's hobbies

Experts are well aware that some children lag behind their peers in the lower grades. There is nothing wrong in such a situation. Because in a year or two the child will catch up with his classmates. Recalling his childhood, Neil Schusterman notes that he read the slowest in third grade. An elderly teacher who worked as a school librarian helped him overcome this barrier. She offered him books, which the boy not only read quickly, but also memorized the content. The stories he read awakened his imagination, and Neal came up with something similar. For some time now, he began to write them down.

The future writer was born on November 12, 1962 in an ordinary American family. Parents lived in the famous Brooklyn. Neil did well at school. He actively participated in social events and sports competitions. In high school, he attended a theater studio. And he even wrote a play, but did not dare to show it to the artistic director. When it came time to choose a profession, Shusterman decided to pursue higher education at the University of California.

Professional activity

Already in his student days, Neil began to try himself as a professional writer. He ran a humorous column called "Anonymous Neil Shusterman's Column" on the pages of the faculty newspaper. The topic for the article was a variety of plots and events. Careless parking, dirty windows in the auditorium, political crisis - all these events were reflected in the column. For four years, students and teachers were impatiently awaiting the next issue of the newspaper, which was published once a week. After completing his studies, Neil earned two degrees in theater and psychology.

Shusterman's writing career was successful. Publishers are wary of aspiring writers. Neal overcame this obstacle without much effort. A year later, he received an application for a script for an educational film. Then a fantastic novel for junior schoolchildren "What Daddy Did" saw the light of day. The author worked easily and did not limit himself to one genre. Shusterman created novels and essays, short stories and plays. At the same time he created musical compositions and educational games for teenagers.
