Today metrosexuality is coming to naught, but the new trend of modern representatives of the stronger sex is spornosexuality. What does this term mean, who are sporesexuals, what is their difference from metrosexuals?
Metrosexuality was first discussed in 1994. This term was used to describe young men living in metropolitan areas and spending a lot of time and money on their appearance. Metrosexuals replaced the dandies, although they differed from them, since they were not representatives of the aristocracy or an elite minority. It has become common for such men to spend no less time in the bathroom than women need. They began to spend a lot of money not only on clothing, but also on various cosmetics, including hair and skin care products. In the hands of metrosexuals, it was often possible to find glossy publications from which they learned about trends from the world of fashion, cars, sex, gadgets, music and fashion films.
Of course, metrosexuals can be found today, but more and more often they are replaced by spornosexuals, whose efforts are not aimed at creating an ideal image in general, but at creating a perfect body with pumped up muscles, tattoos, piercings, chic hairstyles and well-groomed beards. Many experts characterize spornosexuality as a combination of sports, porn and sex, and representatives of this trend focus on sex. They tend to realize their ambitions through the visual component, flaunting what was previously available only to their girlfriends, brides or wives. The manifestation of such narcissism can be seen not endless selfies constantly posted on social networks in anticipation of likes or any other means of encouragement. If earlier metrosexuals could boast of their appearance, going out into the light, then for sporesexuals the Internet is enough to be in the spotlight.
Among the sporesexuals, even new icons can be distinguished, among which are pornographic actors and many athletes, for example, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham or Tom Evans.
