Not getting on the cruiser Aurora means not visiting the glorious hero-city of St. Petersburg. Today the magnificent ship has been turned into a significant monument symbolizing the power of the Soviet era.

Step 1
Having gone through the main battle battles of the Crimean War, taking a direct part in the 1917 uprising, described in all modern history textbooks, the Aurora ship today plays the role of a museum of military glory of the people and a symbol of Leningrad. This old cruiser was launched back in 1900 and then was no different from other similar seagoing ships, the main purpose of which was to protect the country's maritime borders. The ship was surprisingly lucky both in 1905 during the Battle of Tsussim and in 1914, when an attack by a German submarine miraculously destroyed a nearby ship.
Step 2
All these happy coincidences allowed the cruiser to play a leading role in the assault on the Winter Palace, which began on October 25, 1917, and marked the beginning of the attack with a volley. Interestingly, starting in 1923, the cruiser managed to re-enter the operational fleet and take part in the naval battles of World War II, protecting the port of Oranienbaum from enemy attacks.
Step 3
With its glorious exploits, the ship deserved to return to its homeland, where for many years it played the role of a training base for the sailors of the Nakhimov School. Since 1957, an official museum has been organized on board the ship, presenting viewers with valuable exhibits directly related to the life and work of the ship, here are collected numerous photographs, objects of the war years, valuable documents of the order and medals awarded to the cruiser for participating in military battles (about 500 exhibits in total).
Step 4
If earlier the cruiser Aurora was free both for a single visit and as part of excursions, then, starting in 2011, you can get on the ship only by signing up for a group sightseeing tour on the official phone of the excursion line.
Step 5
The museum is open all week, with the exception of Mondays and Fridays, from half past ten in the morning until four in the evening. The fee for visiting the glorious ship is very symbolic and amounts to several hundred rubles, while boarding is carried out free of charge, fees are paid only for visiting some departments (conning tower, boiler room and engine room) and photographing and video filming.
Step 6
So, you get to the Gorkovskaya metro station, through Troitskaya Square, go to the embankment of the Neva and the famous pipes of the restored ship, so close and beloved by all of us since childhood, open up in front of you.
