The main initiator of the unification was the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi - Zayed Al Nahyan, who came to power as a result of a coup.

In the early 1970s, Great Britain abandoned its claims to the territory of the emirates. On December 1, 1971, the rulers of six principalities: Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai, Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain signed a decision to create a new country - the United Arab Emirates, and a year later another emirate of Ras Al Khaimah became part of them. The population of the state was at that time about 90 thousand people, and the Emir of Abu Dhabi - Zayed Al Nahyan was elected president. As a result, he stayed in power for 35 years.

At the moment, the United Arab Emirates is one of the economically developed countries. This country has achieved stability and global political influence in just 44 years.
