Jamie Heineman, an American special effects specialist, is best known for his Legend Busters and Robot Battles. He became the developer of unique technical solutions that turned into discoveries. Founded M5 Industries special effects workshop.
James Franklin Heineman was born in Marshall on September 25, 1956. In neighboring Indiana, where he spent his childhood, he was educated at the university, choosing to specialize in Russian language and literature. Heinemann holds a BA in Russian.
Finding a destination
Jamie strove to learn about the world in all its diversity. He tried his hand in various directions. The inquisitive Heinemann had a chance to be both a tamer of wild animals, and a head chef, and an expert on survival in the wild. Jamie turned into a wonderful captain of a worldly ship, a linguist, was a machinist, an inspector of concrete structures.
From each new job, he took the most useful. This helped move him forward. At twenty-four, Heinemann joined a yacht charter company in the Virgin Islands. Six months later, he acquired his own yacht and a license to operate it. He has completed more than three thousand dives. The profession was mastered to perfection.
After a few years, the young man realized that he had to look for something new. Jamie loved the unknown, which is why he got carried away with special effects. Creativity started small. Heineman got a job as a janitor at Eoin Sprott Studio Ltd in New York. The studio was engaged in the creation of technical devices for films. Among them were the early works of Woody Allen.
Jamie started out by cleaning workshops and carrying things. He looked closely at everything that was happening around. The new world has become fun and interesting. New work soon followed. Heinemann was entrusted with operations with drywall and wood.
Jamie has always been fascinated by the filmmaking process. He worked with dummies and paraphernalia for four years. Among his works were "Arachnophobia" and "Naked Lunch". Jamie soon moved to San Francisco and began working for the special effects company Colossal Pictures.
The experience gained helped Heinemann to start his own business. Together with Adam Savage, he created various special effects for famous projects. These include The Matrix, the first and second episodes of Star Wars. The professional was quickly noticed and appreciated. Heinemann is in demand both in the film world and in advertising.
He co-authored the commercials for 7Up and Nike. For the first video, he designed an all-terrain tank that shoots and sells a drink. Nike received a football boot on two wheels that can move around the field on its own.
New program
In 2002, Adam and Jamie set to work on a new project. They created their own program "Mythbusters". The first issue was released in 2003. The image of Heinemann turned out to be interesting to the audience. Outwardly, the new presenter also looked very colorful: a black beret flaunted on his shaved head, but the luxurious walrus mustache stood out especially.
His white shirt is always immaculately clean, no matter how difficult the experiments. Most of the filming took place on the pavilions of Jamie's own special effects company. Adam often laughed at his friend's low voice and his image, but such teasing did not become a hindrance to friendship.
Jamie is always confident and calm. Even force majeure cannot drive him out of himself. He is always rational, trusts only his own knowledge and scientific information. The main principle of the facilitator is to keep things as simple as possible. A colleague is the complete opposite.
Adam is chaotic and even careless. Heinemann teaches the fidget, warns that at first they think, do then. The Savage-Heinemann duo uses many years of experience to confirm or refute stereotypes in various kinds of experiments. Each episode of the program helps to understand the legends and rumors. Often, a mannequin bursts in, and the presenters do with him everything that comes into their heads.
Adam and Jamie are not in danger of losing their jobs: there are too many rumors circulating on the Internet. Both take quite a bit of risk during the broadcasts. They work with explosions, chemicals and other hazardous substances. But both have a lot of courage. The program explains everything from a scientific point of view. If the presenters are unable to do something, they honestly admit it. Heinemann's main task was to convey the cognitive value to the audience.
The personal life of the famous presenter is completely arranged. In 1989, with their chosen one Eileen Walsh, a science teacher, they became husband and wife. Jamie admitted in an interview that creativity has become for him an integral part of being. Most of his time passes on the set.
Film, television and inventions
With his best friend and partner Adam Savage, Jamie often has controversies. However, both have respect for each other. She is convinced that the truth is born only in controversy. In 2006, Heineman was awarded a lifetime honorary membership of the California Association of Science Teachers. During the filming of one of the programs, it turned out that Jamie was afraid of heights.
He calls himself a skeptic. Together with Adam Heinemann, he starred in the movie Darwin Prize. In the picture, he got the role of an arms dealer. The presenter coped with it perfectly.
Jamie took part in "BattleBots", a show of fighting robots. The robot Blendo was built for him. This is the first in the history of such competitions, a mechanical participant, disqualified for too destructive weapons.
At first glance, experiences seem like fun, a waste of time. But in reality, Adam and Jamie are completely scientific. They calculate the speed, measure the power level, determine the course of the experiment in attempts to find a way to solve the problem scientifically. Most of the difficult calculations, and even some experiments, are often left behind the scenes.
Heinemann is not only a wonderful presenter, he is also a wonderful person. His program has so many fans.
