They tried not to punish the boy for childish pranks. Parents used their own parenting methods. Young Eldar Ryazanov was told everything in words. And, surprisingly to adults, he took everything correctly. He tried to listen more, even then he learned to listen and understand the interlocutor.
Childhood and youth
The future director was born on November 18, 1927 in a family of employees. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Samara. Father and mother worked in the People's Commissariat for Foreign Trade. A few months later, the head of the family was transferred to the post of head of the trade mission in Tehran, the capital of Persia. Eldar spent almost five years on the land where, in the distant past, the phalanxes of Alexander the Great passed, shining with armor. At an early age, he learned to read and fell in love with books. Close people and acquaintances, knowing about this hobby, had no doubt that he would become a writer.
However, Eldar had his own dreams and plans. He firmly decided to become a sailor and visit distant countries. These exciting plans were thwarted by the war. In 1946, Ryazanov was among the students of VGIK. Only those who had a certificate of maturity were admitted to this institute. Eldar decided to pass his final exams a year earlier, as an external student. In three weeks he prepared himself and brilliantly coped with all the mandatory tasks. He was the youngest student in the documentary department.
Creative activity
Eldar Ryazanov's professional career began immediately after graduating from the institute. The aspiring director has been filming documentaries for several years. On the instructions of the film studio, he managed to travel around the Far East, partly fulfilling his old dream of travel. The documentary filmmaker made films about crab catchers in the Sea of Japan, about whalers and grain growers of the Kuban, about fishermen and border guards, reindeer breeders and writers. Visited Chukotka, Kuril Islands, Sakhalin Island and Kamchatka Peninsula. Experience and impressions were useful to him in future projects.
The time has come and in 1955 Ryazanov was invited to work at the Mosfilm film factory. New conditions, new roles and new people forced him to concentrate his knowledge and experience. The first feature film directed by Ryazanov was called Spring Voices. The picture turned out to be quite good. Then he was brought the script for the film "Carnival Night". At first, the director was skeptical about this project. However, the results showed that all doubts were in vain. The film turned out to be very popular and is watched with pleasure in our time.
Recognition and privacy
The homeland highly appreciated the merits of Eldar Ryazanov in the development of national culture. He was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of the Soviet Union". The director was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor.
The director's personal life was not very smooth. He divorced his first wife after twenty years of marriage. The second one died of cancer. With his third wife, Emma Abaydullina, People's Artist spent the last 20 years of his life. Eldar Ryazanov died in November 2015 after a serious, prolonged illness.
