TEFI is an award from the Academy of Russian Television, which is awarded to persons and groups that have shown themselves to the greatest extent in promoting domestic content on television. The most distinguished ones are annually determined by voting by the members of the academy in dozens of separate nominations. The announcement of the winners and the presentation of awards this year took place at the end of May in two Moscow theaters.
The number of nominations approached fifty, so the academicians divided them into two categories - "Professions" and "Persons". This is a conditional division, since both individuals and whole groups or organizations were defined in both the first and second groups. Awards to the winners in the "Professions" category were presented on May 25 at the Novaya Opera Theater. In 12 nominations out of 27, the only person became the owner of TEFI. Among them were Vladimir Brezhnev - the best TV program operator ("Dancing with the Stars - 2011"), Vladimir Bashta - the best TV movie operator ("Fortress"), Alexander Zhigalkin - the best TV program director ("Six frames"). Sergei Miroshnichenko was noted as the director of the documentary television film "The River of Life", Andrey Kivinov - as the screenwriter for the TV movie “Podsadnaya”, and Karine Foliyants - as the screenwriter for the feature series “The Beautiful Seraphima”.
The largest number of winners - ten - was in the nomination "TV Program Writer". So all the screenwriters of the humorous talk show "Big Difference" were awarded. Another program of this plan - the humorous sketch show “One for All” - brought bronze TEFI statuettes to six of its producers. Four names of the winners were named in the nominations "Film / Series Producer" and "Writer of a TV Documentary / Series" - this is how the documentary film "Battle for the North. Kola Peninsula. Mysticism and Reality”and the series“Closed School”.
On May 29, nominees in the "Faces" category received awards at the Moscow Musical Theater. Here there were fewer nominations - 21. On this day, persons were awarded, many of whom the domestic TV viewer recognizes precisely by the faces on the screen - leading news, analytical, copyright, humorous programs. Orpheus statuettes were presented to four representatives of REN TV - Mikhail Osokin, Marianna Maksimovskaya, Ilya Doronov and Alexander Nadsadny, and Marianna Maksimovskaya became the first in two nominations at once. In addition to them, the works of the sculptor Ernest Neizvestny were also received by such famous TV personalities as Vladimir Pozner, Alexander Gordon, Boris Klyuev, Garik Martirosyan, Alexander Tsekalo, Ivan Urgant.
