Born in Plzen on July 14, 1939. In the post-war period, the family moved to the capital - Prague. Since childhood, Karel has been drawing and dreaming of a career as an artist. But after school, he does not succeed in entering the art academy, and the young man goes to the school, to receive the specialty of an electrician. After graduation, Gott works at a tram factory, and sings in cafes and clubs in the evenings.
In 1960 he entered the Prague Conservatory, the department of opera singing.
Creativity and touring
The glory of the singer begins its journey with the arrival of the "twist" direction on the stage. Karel gains fame in Czechoslovakia and begins touring: Poland, the USSR. The singer's talent is recognized everywhere. In 1962, Gott came to work at the Semafor Theater. Already in the same year, Karel's song in a duet with Vlasta Prukhova wins the hit parade on the radio. And in 1963 he received the first prize in the Golden Nightingale music competition.
Since 1965, Karel Gott has founded his own theater "Apollo", but he has been working for only two years, after which he goes on tour to Las Vegas. Returning, the singer finds himself in the direction of the mainstream. He is becoming a very popular performer in Eastern and Western Europe. His career is skyrocketing. He records his debut disc, which was awarded the gold status.

In 1968, Karel Gott performed at the Eurovision Song Contest from Austria and took 13th place. The popularity is growing. The hit "Lady Carneval" and others provide him with nationwide fame.
Karel Gott is very popular not only at home, but also abroad. He is especially loved in the USSR, where he tours even in the most remote regions, performs songs in Russian without an accent at all. In 1987, the singer performs at the "Song of the Year" in the Soviet Union with Sofia Rotaru. All of his albums in the 70s and 80s reach the first places in the charts. Personal life
Throughout his life, Karel Gott remains a favorite of women. He always had them, but the artist did not dare to marry for a long time. There are illegitimate children - two daughters. For the first time, a popular singer officially married only in 2006. Moreover, his chosen one is 38 years younger than the famous Czech. The singer is happily married, two adorable daughters are growing up with a loving husband and wife.
In 2015, the singer was confirmed with a terrible diagnosis - cancer of the lymph nodes. Two years of struggle for life were not in vain. Karel Gott overcame his illness and is again full of life and new plans in his work.
