The Russian Post office will keep the parcel for 30 days from the date of its arrival. As soon as the shipment arrives at the department, employees immediately write out a notification to the addressee. After 5 days, a secondary notice is sent. If the addressee does not appear, the parcel is sent back, the sender must pay all additional costs.

Rules for receiving parcels and delivery of notices

The work of Russian Post is regulated by the Rules for the provision of postal services. According to them, in order to receive a parcel, you need to present an identity document. Then the addressee must fill out a receipt, where he should indicate his data and the address of actual residence, if it does not coincide with the address of registration. The postal item must be weighed. If everything is in order, then the addressee can pick up the parcel.

Parcels are not delivered to your home. Instead, a special part called a notice is torn off from the form that accompanies them. It is signed at the post office, and then the postmen deliver such notices, leaving them in the cells of the mailboxes, in the post office boxes or in the mailboxes at the addresses to which the parcels were sent.

Parcel storage rules

The storage of postal items at the post office is carried out within one month (30 calendar days). If during this entire period the addressee does not appear for the parcel, then it is sent back. The sender must receive it at the additional cost of re-shipment. In the event that he refuses to pick up the parcel and pay additional costs, it is temporarily transferred to the list of unclaimed postal items and for some time is still stored in the post office or another place (depending on the size of the parcel, its content, if known, and other factors).

If the addressee does not come to pick up the parcel after the secondary notification, the post office may begin to charge a penalty. At the same time, there is a rule according to which this notice must be delivered personally to the addressee, and also signed by him. In practice, the secondary notice is usually just dropped into the mailbox. At present, many post offices of the Russian Post have ceased to collect penalties.

Rules for receiving parcels

If the parcel contains an inventory, then upon delivery to the addressee, the parcel is opened and checked in the presence of the addressee and an employee of the department. The addressee can refuse to open and check, then a special note about this is made on the address form accompanying the shipment.

In the event that the opened parcel does not contain everything that is indicated in the inventory, and also if the shipment is damaged or spoiled, then an act is drawn up in the form of 51-v. It is signed by the head of the liaison office. In total, 4 copies of the act are drawn up. The first is handed to the addressee, the second is sent to the place where the parcel was received, the third, addressed to the director of the transit postal facility, from where the parcel arrived at the post office. A file on this shipment is drawn up, and a fourth copy is filed to it.

If the parcel has cash on delivery, then before paying for its receipt, the addressee has the right to ask who sent it and from where.
