Yuri Georgievich was born on March 2, 1947. The family lived in Riga, Moscow. Yura's father was an officer, his mother was a housewife. Yuri has a sister, Margarita.
The boy grew up sensitive and vulnerable, he studied at an art school. Then he studied at an art school, deciding to become a carpet artist. During the holidays, as a part-time job, the young man made sketches of objects found during excavations.

After his studies, Bogatyryov worked at Sovremennik, playing secondary roles for a long time. The most famous plays where he played: "Twelfth Night", "The Cherry Orchard", "Forever Alive".
In 1977, Yuri began to work at the Moscow Art Theater at the invitation of Oleg Efremov. In the 60s, Bogatyryov met with Nikita Mikhalkov, an aspiring film director. The collaboration was fruitful. In 1970, Yuri Georgievich starred in the movie "Quiet Day at the End of the War" - Mikhalkov's diploma work.
4 years later, the actor worked on the set of the movie "At home among strangers, a stranger among friends." For the role, he was on a diet for several months, learned to ride a horse. Bogatyrev often played in the paintings of Mikhalkov.
Works in the films "Rodnya", "Black Eyes", "Two Captains" became noticeable. In 1984, Bogatyrev was included in the star cast, which was assembled for the filming of the film "Dead Souls". The last were the roles in the movie "Flight of the Bird", "The Presumption of Innocence", "Don Cesar de Bazan". The best role is considered to be in the movie "Declaration of Love".
Yuri Georgievich took part in television performances and programs for children many times. As he got older, he began to abuse alcohol, received fewer offers to shoot.
Bogatyryov died on February 2, 1989. Prior to that, he took antidepressants. At night he felt bad with his heart. An ambulance doctor gave him a shot of clonidine. A drug incompatible with an antidepressant provoked shock. The actor could not be saved.
Personal life
Bogatyrev's friends were Natalya Gundareva, Iya Savvina, Natalya Varley. The official wife of the actor was Gray Hope, an actress. After the divorce, he and the child found themselves on the street, and Yuri helped them.
Before his death, Bogatyryov was preparing for the exhibition of his works, he continued to study painting until the end of his life. After the funeral, many of his paintings disappeared. In 2012, an album was published with the works of Yuri Georgievich.
