From an early age, Nikolai dreamed of singing. However, nature did not award him with a special musical talent. But he showed great ability for sports and at the age of 9 he began to seriously play tennis. Most often, his older brother Yuri was his partner in the game.

Nikolay disappeared on the court all day. In 1935, he first became the champion of Moscow, and a few years later he earned the title of master of sports in tennis. At the same time, Nikolai studied at GITIS, at the acting department.

On the career ladder

After graduating from high school, Nikolai began to build a career at the Moscow Art Theater. Behind him thirty years of theatrical activity and two dozen roles. More than once Ozerov starred in films - most often he played a sports commentator.

The actor's career was developing successfully, but Nikolai was not going to break with sports. He continued to delight fans by participating in sports tournaments at various levels. Nikolay was distinguished by an active style of play and an "iron" blow with his right hand. During each meeting, Ozerov managed to correctly assess the opponent, to find his weaknesses.

During his sports career, Nikolai Nikolaevich received about 170 titles and 24 gold medals of the national championships. Until now, none of the tennis players have managed to surpass his achievements.

When Ozerov was at the zenith of his sporting glory, his father advised him to do something else. For example, look for your niche on television or radio. Nikolai listened to his father's advice.

Sports commentator

Ozerov appeared in the wheelhouse of a sports commentator in 1950. Even before his "premiere" Ozerov trained, quietly uttering comments during sports competitions. And he understood that he was not really doing anything. The debut report of the novice commentator took place during the Dynamo - CDKA match. Over the next two weeks, four dozen responses to the program were received from listeners - almost all of them spoke with approval about the report.

After a while, Ozerov became a favorite commentator for many viewers. Perhaps in this field he became even more successful than on the tennis court. Ozerov commented on 15 Olympic Games, three dozen world hockey championships. It was Nikolai Nikolaevich who commented on the famous match between Soviet hockey players and Canadians.

Over the years, Nikolai Ozerov became a legend in Soviet sports. From him, people learned about the victories of athletes, together with him they rejoiced at the successes and worried about the failures.
