In 2000 Igor Prokopenko received his first award as a journalist - the TEFI statuette. Since then Igor has been the owner of this statuette seven times. However, at the same time, the journalistic activity of this person causes a lot of controversy and controversy both among ordinary TV viewers and scientists.
Early years and military career
Igor Stanislavovich Prokopenko is a native of the Voronezh region, the city of Pavlovsk. The boy was born on February 8, 1965. Igor, best known as a man who knows all the secrets of mankind, prefers not to spread about his family. It is only known that he grew up in a military family. Thus, Igor decided to keep up with his father and became a cadet of the Tver Suvorov military school.
After graduating from the famous school, the young cadet, as expected, goes to serve the Motherland. By the way, his service was in the Air Defense Forces.
Returning from the army, young Prokopenko decides to go to Donetsk, where he enters one of the most prestigious educational institutions of that time - the Higher Military-Political School (DVVPU, disbanded in 1995). This university trained future political officers. Having received a higher education, Prokopenko was sent to one of the air defense centers, which cannot be found on any map.
However, soon the young man, for reasons known only to him, left his military career. Having left the service with the rank of major, Igor becomes a military observer.
Work in journalism
Since 1989, he has been making special reports from hot spots, publishing in Rossiyskaya Gazeta, MK and Krasnaya Zvezda. Since then, his career as a journalist has gone sharply uphill, and at the age of 29 he becomes an employee of VoenTV (a division of the Ministry of Defense), where he prepared reports of military operations for the air of the country's central television channels.
A year later, his debut documentary "A brooch on a braid" was published, which received positive reviews from viewers.
In the period from 1996 to 1997, the already famous correspondent worked as a presenter of the program of the RTR TV channel "Oath". And in 1998 he was invited to REN-TV (now - REN TV), where for 20 years Igor Prokopenko has been not just the face of the TV channel, but its integral part.
Moreover, for all 20 years, his author's program "Military Secret" has been on the air, in which Igor Stanislavovich shares with the audience sensational facts of the past and present military history of Russia, as well as fresh information about the secret conspiracies of politicians, espionage and the mysteries of our vast universe.
In 2004, he became deputy director general for public-political and documentary broadcasting of the TV channel. And two years later, he became the head of the documentary projects department at REN TV.
During all the time that he is an employee of REN TV, dozens of pseudoscientific projects have come out from under his pen, among which everyone, one way or another, is familiar with the Territory of Delusions, Secret Diplomacy, and Army of Peace.
In addition, together with the Russian publishing house Eksmo, Igor Stanislavovich regularly publishes books from the Military Secret series.
Personal life
Little can be said about the personal life of the TV presenter due to the secrecy of Igor himself. It is known for sure that Igor Stanislavovich has a wife, Oksana Barkovskaya. The love between the spouses, as it turned out, broke out in childhood. A loving husband is 10 years older than Oksana, but this does not bother both of them at all. The couple are raising two children: a son and a daughter. In addition, from his first marriage, Igor also has a daughter who is building a career in journalism.
