In the ancient Russian Christian tradition, there was no question of choosing a church as such: the whole family went to the nearest one, especially the path to it was often by no means close. Today, the majority of the population lives in cities, and several churches, sometimes even of different denominations, can be located at an equal distance from the house.
Instructions
Step 1
In choosing your denomination and religion, rely solely on your own common sense and heart. Analyze the dogmas of religion, correlate them with your worldview. Choose what feels right to you.
Step 2
Match your choice with your geographic location. The proximity of the church matters if you intend to go there at least once a week. A church at a distance of half an hour's walk from the house is preferable.
Step 3
If there are several churches at approximately equal distance from you, find out in honor of which saints and holidays they were built. Study the history of the days of memory of these people or events, their significance in history, the field of science, art or everyday life, which they patronize. Find a resonance among these descriptions in the events of your life.
Step 4
Visit each of these churches during services, preferably on Sunday morning. Pay attention to the behavior of parishioners and priests, interior decoration. You shouldn't have feelings of depression, irritation, or other negative emotions. Otherwise, you better leave the church. Analyze the experience of each service and make a choice based on your own experience.
