Sergei's ancestors are from Belarus. His grandparents lived in this country in the village of Ukhvala. And the future champion himself was born in July 1963 in the village of Solovyovka, in the Novosibirsk region. Then the family moved to the village of Tashara, since Sergei had to go to school, and there was no such educational institution in his native village. Perhaps there was no famous athlete if the coach Ivanovsky V. N. had not arrived at Sergei's school. It was this man who opened a skiing club in the village.

Many schoolchildren decided to enroll here. Sergei and his brothers also went to study in the section.

But the training schedule was harsh - you had to come to the sports club by 6 in the morning. Therefore, many guys could not stand such a schedule and left the section. And Sergei and his two brothers remained.

The young athlete had a difficult life in the family - as both parents drank. Therefore, they left their three sons in a boarding school. From time to time, their grandmother and aunt, who lived there in the village of Tashara, visited the children.

Then the coach Ivanovsky opened a biathlon club on the basis of the ski section. The guys moved here with pleasure. Sergey began to show sporting achievements already at this stage. Seeing such successes of the young talent, he was included in the USSR junior team. Then Bulygin Sergey Ivanovich was enrolled in the main team of the Union. At that time, he was only 19 years old.

When the competitions were held in Kirov-Chepetsk, Bulygin managed to run 20 km perfectly and, with one mistake, won with a big advantage. Then he was taken to the world championship. This competition took place in Anterselva. The quartet of Soviet biathletes, together with Bulagin, took first place in the relay.

At the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, the team was unsuccessful in individual races. The relay race was held on the last day of the competition. Dmitry Vasiliev ran at the first stage. He brought Yuri Koshkarov, who was placed in the second stage, 67 seconds of advantage. Yuri also managed to defend the leading position, as well as Algimantas Shalna, who ran third. But this athlete missed twice in the last shooting, and Bulygin went to the last stage with an 18-second lag. But he managed to reach the leading German athlete by the first line, take the leading place again and bring his team to the gold medal.

Sergei Ivanovich Bulygin is a happy husband and father. His wife's name is Marina. In 1986, the couple had a daughter. After leaving the big sport, Sergei Bulygin was engaged in business, then at one time he worked in Switzerland in the biathlon team.

In 1996, Bulygin and his family returned to their homeland in Belarus, where he began to work in the Belarusian Biathlon Federation, taking the post of deputy head of this organization. Now Bulygin S. I. is the head of a commercial company that he created that sells shoes.
