The future Soviet artist and talented icon painter was born in 1939 in the town of Ramenskoye near Moscow, in August, on the 4th.

Study

He studied by vocation and the call of his heart. In 1964 he graduated from the Moscow University of Arts, the head of the workshop was V. P. Miturich. Five years later, he brilliantly graduated from the creative department of another institute - the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. The faculty was called graphic arts. He was taught by famous personalities:

  • A. I. Laktionov,
  • F. Modorov,
  • G. B. Smirnov,
  • V. M. Desnitsky.

It was this that served as a good basis for the development of the artist's creative career, which later received recognition throughout the world.

In 1975 he became a member of the International Federation of Artists of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. And after several brilliant exhibitions in the USSR, Wolf received membership in the Moscow Union of Artists.

Arts and career

From childhood, Vladimir Alekseevich was attracted by the beauty and naturalness of naive art. At first, he wrote interesting works inspired by folk art and old Russian motives. He painted icons, pictures based on folk tales. In the middle and late period, he turned to abstraction, but did not deviate from his main line - primitivism.

One of the Gatchina artists' exhibitions was called "Such a Different Wolf", which was a continuation of the exhibition of the same name at the Tretyakov Gallery in St. Petersburg (2015). This name seems to concentrate the diversity of his work. The artist was a real experimenter. He could easily change the technique of work, he took up creativity on different textures: canvas, glass, metal. And he also experimented with emotional content, a philosophical meaning, which, passing through himself, he tried to portray in the author's works of art.

He has been in a creative search all his life, and, as critics say, "the variety of the Wolf is incredibly interesting." As if several artists were concentrated in it alone. According to connoisseurs and admirers, such perfection is inherent in the master primarily due to his higher art education, which radically set him apart from his colleagues in the capital's underground.

Vladimir Alekseevich was the famous guest icon painter who painted the temple of the Archangel Michael at the end of the 20th century. The operating temple is still open to believers in the village of Tikhinichi, Rogachevsky district, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Interesting facts about this job:

  • In this church, he wrote about 60 Orthodox icons.
  • For this, in 2002, he was awarded from the hands of Patriarch Alexy II the Order of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir of the third degree.
  • In 2007, he was awarded the medal of St. Cyril of Turov for painting the church.

The nonconformist artist Vladimir Volk loved order and consistency even in the formation and design of his exhibitions. Despite the diversity of his directions - from graphics to modern sculpture, from primitivism to abstraction, he followed all his life in creativity to the call of his heart. And he adhered to his own, author's style.

Wolf himself called art a complex work that involves the consciousness and subconsciousness of a person and in which real life is reflected. And even in the final work, it is almost impossible to fully express all this. Therefore, according to the creator's nephew, also artist Arsen Melitonyan, the Wolf invites every viewer to become a full-fledged co-author of his works. Thus, the viewer, the contemplator of the picture, also works - he conjectures what he saw, passes through himself, empathizes with what was written with a brush.

In November 2015, Vladimir Volk passed away. But his works, his magnificent icons and unique paintings, primitive graphics, revealed in his own texts (after all, the artist was also a prose writer, and also wrote poetry), published in his own miniature books, remained. All this made it possible to maintain a connection with the artist's work through works carefully collected for future generations.

Personal life

Vladimir Volk chose as his wife a woman not connected with the creativity of the profession - a lawyer, candidate of legal sciences Svetlana Ilyinichna.

Their daughter Irina was born in Moscow in 1977, in December. In choosing a profession, she followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandfather, the colonel, despite the interest in creativity that was present in her from her famous father.

Today, the main activity of Police Lieutenant Colonel Irina Volk is considered to be the management of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow. She successfully combines legal, journalistic and writing work.

Among the books published by the artist's daughter, there is a book about his beloved father "Vladimir Volk:" I am sick with art … ". From it you can learn not only about the artistic activities of Vladimir, but also get acquainted with his writings and poetry. The daughter remembers her father with warmth.

Irina Volk carefully protects personal information about relatives from prying eyes. There is very little information on the network and official biographies about her personal life and her father. The only thing that is known to the broad masses: today Irina is married and has a son, Seryozha.
