In his youth, he really wanted to learn and share knowledge with peers. Turning dreams into reality, our hero headed the science of Kazakhstan and saved the Soviet industry during the war years.
Our hero is lucky to live in an era of change. The owner of a strong character and enormous willpower did not shy away when faced with difficulties. It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of Satpayev to the science of Kazakhstan - the land of nomads has turned into an industrially developed country.
Childhood
Kanysh was born in March 1899. The aul where his father Imantai lived did not even have a name. The settlement was located in the Pavlodar district. The happy parent himself came from the Suyindyk clan of the Argyn tribe and was highly respected among his fellow tribesmen. His family was small - a wife and three children.
Satpayev's heirs did not know the need. Parents wanted them to join civilization. In 1909 Kanysh went to a local school. After finishing three classes, he went to Pavlodar, where he entered the Russian-Kazakh school. The boy was drawn to new knowledge, therefore, having received a diploma in 1914, he announced that he would continue his education at the teachers' seminary in Semipalatinsk. At home, a scandal erupted, because the guy's relatives professed Islam. This did not stop the teenager.
Youth
Our rebel successfully passed the exams and started his studies. He had to survive, not counting on the help of loved ones, which affected his health. The young man fell ill with tuberculosis. The unfortunate man found the strength to pass external exams, and in 1918 he began to prepare for admission to the Tomsk Institute of Technology. A few months later, the guy realized that he needed to be treated. He returned to his native village to improve his health.
At home, Kanysh's arrival was welcome. Religious differences receded into the background. The father sent his son to be treated in Bayanaul, where the famous healing kumis was prepared. As soon as Imantai found out that the young man was on the mend, he sent him a bride. The wedding was played according to ancient traditions. The wife gave her husband three children.
Enlightener
The chores associated with health and personal life took a lot of time. This annoyed Kanysh Satpayev, because in his native settlement and at the resort he observed a catastrophic picture - most of the children were illiterate. They did not know Russian, and Kazakh literature did not exist. To rectify the situation, our hero took up the compilation of the first textbook on algebra in his native language for himself and his compatriots.
The country was undergoing tremendous changes. In 1920, Satpayev was elected chairman of the Kazkultprosvet in Bayanaul, often he was entrusted with the duties of a judge. The next year, our hero met the geologist Mikhail Usov, who came to Kazakhstan to rest. Kanysh became interested in the science of minerals and was able to enter Tomsk University. He was often ill, so he mastered most of the course outside the school. This did not prevent him from successfully graduating from the university in 1926 and obtaining the qualification of a mining engineer.
Luck
Fortune played a significant role in the biography of our hero. His first place of work was the Atbasar trust of non-ferrous metals. The young engineer drew attention to the abandoned copper smelter in Karsaklai 10 years ago. Near this dilapidated object, an enthusiast geologist was able to discover giant deposits of copper. Since 1929, he demanded from the authorities to begin the development of natural resources, but he was refused. I had to go to Moscow to defend an initiative important for the country.
The following years were not easier. Kazakh officials did not want to allocate funding for Satpayev's crazy projects, but he already believed in himself and the potential of his native land. Mikhail Usov came to the rescue of the romantic. An old friend introduced the Kazakhs to leading Soviet scientists and helped to get through to the leadership of the USSR. In 1941 g.the restless Satpayev was appointed director of the Institute of Geological Sciences. How deserved this post was, it became clear a couple of months later - the Nazis launched an offensive on the industrial regions of Russia, and the Soviet Union could only use the deposits in Kazakhstan.
Achievements
During the war, Kanysh Satpayev took care of the development of manganese mining and published a monograph on the prospects for the extraction of raw materials for ferrous metallurgy. He wanted to join the party, but was refused after learning that his parents were considered local nobility. This did not stop the scientist from making a career. In 1942 he was awarded the Stalin Prize, the next year he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and appointed chairman of the KazFAN of the USSR. In 1944, Satpayev managed to get a party membership card.
The official ceremony dedicated to the founding of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR took place only in 1946. Its head in the same year received the title of academician and became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In his free time, the scientist recorded folk art and visited archaeological excavations. He was widowed and remarried to Taisiya Koshkina, who bore him two daughters.
Fall and rise
In 1949, a scandal broke out in the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. The head of the structure had to be responsible for the subordinates. Satpayev did not have any sympathy for the rightists, therefore denunciations and far-fetched accusations were used against him. In 1951 the parasites were freed from the head of the fidget. Having lost his position, our hero did not stop studying the geology of his native land.
Everything changed in 1958. Kanysh Satpayev was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. After 3 years, he became a member of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences and moved to Moscow. The scientist, who was cared for by the authorities and regained his good name, died in January 1964.
