The story of how the apes seized power over people has been stirring the minds of mankind for almost half a century - since the book by Pierre Boulle "Planet of the Apes" was published. She was filmed eight times, and this is not the limit. In July, the newest film about the same story is released.
Monkey story
The first film "Planet of the Apes" was released five years after the book was published - in 1968. The main role in it was played by movie star of the 60s Charlton Heston. It is noteworthy that 33 years later, Tim Burton invited the aged Heston to star in a small role in his version of Planet. Then it seemed that Burton was the beginning of a long series. But this did not happen. And only ten years later, in 2011, Rupert White directed Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film, which is a spin-off of the original plot, turned out to be large-scale and impressive both in terms of the quality of the material and the cast.
The film featured both the patriarchs in the person of Brian Cox and the young "harrypotter" generation in the person of Tom Felton.
The film was very reminiscent of the side-project of Andy Serkis, who was bored of being the eternal Gollum, moreover, the director's education was obligatory. With his light hand, Andrew Lesney became the chief operator of the film, filming "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit", which had a beneficial effect on the quality of the picture. Serkis himself played the role of the main primate named Caesar, habitually donning a costume for motion-capture.
The efforts of the creators paid off in full - the film earned five times more money than it cost in production. And XX Century Fox couldn't resist the temptation to make a sequel.
What the dawn prepares for us
The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes team has grown significantly. The director's chair was taken by the experienced and famous creator of the rental leaders Matt Reeves ("Monstro", "Yards", "Let Me In. Saga"). The cast was also replenished with stars of the first magnitude. The main role was taken by Gary Oldman, his partner was played by Judy Greer ("Elizabethtown", "Californication", "Dr. House"). In the role of chimpanzee Caesar, the master of reincarnation Andy Serkis remained.
The plot of a dark future
In the new film, the story of a chimpanzee swallowing a drug to treat Alzheimer's syndrome continues with events that happened 15 years after his release from laboratory captivity. Now he is a wise life-wise primate who managed not only to free and rally his relatives, but also to upgrade their brains with the help of the same drug. Now the army of smart monkeys is ready to confront humans.
And people are not doing well. The plague epidemic that followed the devastation caused by the uprising of the primates took the lives of half of humanity. The survivors have lost hope of salvation. It's time to make peace with the monkeys.
At the same time, a group of scientists is desperately trying to invent a new drug that can make monkeys go stupid.
Caesar almost doesn't need people anymore. Will he take over world domination?
This will be announced in early July when the film will be released. The world premiere is scheduled for July 11, 2014, the Russian one for the 17th.
