The series "Mediator", created in 2012 by United Multimedia Projects, is a detective story in the thriller genre. She quickly became popular with the viewership of Channel One, despite the short duration of the series, in which there are only twelve episodes.
Plot description
In the TV series "Mediator" we are talking about Sergei Grachev, a major of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who survived clinical death after a bullet wound to the head and after that began to experience unusual events in his life. The man begins to hear disembodied voices and see the ghosts of people who have already died. Despite the extreme nature of the situation, Major Grachev soon begins to understand that his new abilities allow him to more effectively investigate crimes - after all, the victims themselves suggest solutions to him.
The working title of the series "Mediator" was "Rook" - nicknamed the main character Sergei Grachev.
Since the medics were unable to remove the bullet from the major's head, ghosts continue to come to him for answers. The people around Sergei hardly accept his gift - even his wife, who could not stand Grachev's strange behavior, leaves him, having lost hope of restoring an already difficult relationship. The only person who believed in Sergei's ability is his subordinate and colleague Dasha Okhlopkova, with the help of which the major gradually gets out of the abyss of loneliness. She also helps him to investigate unsolved cases, long closed as hopeless "wood grouses".
Filming the series
On the set of The Mediator, mysticism made itself felt to all the participants in the filming process. In the pavilion, such inexplicable phenomena as the disappearance of objects that appeared some time later in another place, as well as knocking of unknown origin in neighboring rooms, where there was absolutely no one, often happened. Also, the actors have repeatedly noticed the sudden fall of things from their places without visible outside influence, which greatly alarmed the entire film group.
The series was filmed based on the six-part television series "Greco", which was very popular in France, where it was created.
The main antagonist in the "Mediator" was played by Ivan Okhlobystin, who appeared in the unusual role of a maniac and a convicted criminal with a dual character. He, like Sergei Grachev, received unusual abilities - however, as a result of an accident and of a somewhat different kind. Ivan's character began to distinguish ordinary people from villains, whom he hunted as a serial killer. In addition, he was terribly disfigured - the make-up artists of the series daily for an hour and a half applied a large amount of latex makeup to Okhlobystin's face, which created the effect of scars.
