Childhood and youth
Serving the muses does not tolerate commercial success and fuss. The future composer and poet was born on January 13, 1957 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in the famous city of Tula. My father worked at one of the engineering enterprises. Mother worked as a nurse in a city clinic. Music and songs were often played in the house. On weekends, relatives gathered and sang various songs, including Russian folk songs. The child showed musical ability from an early age. As it turned out later, Gennady has perfect pitch.
Professional activity
Simultaneously with the secondary school, Gennady was enrolled in a music school. In addition to this, on the street, friends showed the future performer three basic chords, and he easily learned to play the guitar. Having received a musical education, Ponomarev sang for some time in the folk choir, which acted at the city house of culture. In 1975 he was drafted into the army. The place of service was determined by the ensemble of the Kremlin regiment in Moscow. It was here, in the regimental library, that he first picked up a Bible and read several pages.
Circumstances developed in such a way that Ponomarev returned from the army as a deeply religious person. In one of the Orthodox churches in his hometown, he received Holy Baptism. After a while, Gennady was invited to sing in the church choir in the kliros. He took this request very seriously. The composer served in the church for over ten years. This time has not passed in vain. Ponomarev discovered the deepest layer of the original Russian singing culture. He became richer not only as a composer and musician, but also as a believer.
Recognition and privacy
Gennady Ponomarev regularly gives his solo concerts in different cities of Russia. In songs and musical compositions, he brings his thoughts, feelings and love for his native land to the listeners.
The singer's personal life has developed well. For many years he has been legally married to the famous singer Zhanna Bichevskaya. Husband and wife are married in church. Often they perform together in front of the audience. Their creative union is known far beyond the borders of Russia.
