Alexander Alexandrovich Dolgopolov is a famous Ukrainian professional tennis player. Winner of three titles in singles according to the version of the professional tennis association.
Biography
The future tennis player was born in November 1988 on the seventh in Soviet Kiev. The boy's family was athletic: his mother was engaged in gymnastics and even played for the national team in European tournaments. My father tried to play tennis at a professional level, but did not achieve great success. Dolgopolov Jr. started playing tennis at a very early age. From the age of three, he already regularly visited the court and honed his playing skills.
Career
As a teenager, the young athlete already actively participated in various regional competitions and won the first trophies. In the mid-2000s, he began to show fairly stable results and made his way to the top twenty of the juniors.
In 2005, he began trying his hand at ITF senior tournaments. Good results allowed him to break into the top 400 professional tennis players. A few years later, Alexander began to take an active part in the ATP Challengers and scored the required number of points to qualify for the Grand Slam tournaments. Along the way, he became a member of the Davis Cup as part of the Ukrainian national team.
Alexander started 2008 in the fifth hundred of the rating, but thanks to successful performances at several challengers and victories in some of them, he quickly, just within a year, reached the top hundred of the best tennis players in the world.
Two years later, Dolgopolov got to the French Open, where he won two convincing victories, but in the third round of the competition he lost to the more experienced athlete Nicholas Almagro. This is the highest result that the Ukrainian tennis player managed to achieve in his career.
In 2011, he reached the quarterfinals at the tournament in Australia. Having confidently passed the previous stages, the Ukrainian met in the quarterfinals with the famous British athlete Andy Murray, to whom he lost the victory in four sets.
To date, Alexander Dolgopolov continues to actively participate in various tennis competitions, but their results leave much to be desired, his position in the rating for 2019 is 502. Alexander showed the best result in the rating in 2012, then he occupied the twelfth line.
Personal life
The famous tennis player is not married, but for quite a long time he has been dating a model named Alexandra. Despite the long-term relationship, the couple does not plan to get married, as the athlete himself says: “they are already fine”. In 2016 Dolgopolov got two cats, but rather unusual ones. As pets, he chose two servals, which eat one kilogram of meat each in one day.
