From the biography of V. Ageev

The future master of professional boxing was born in Moscow on July 7, 1941. Victor came to boxing at the age of thirteen. At first, he studied under the strict guidance of an experienced coach V. Konkov. Vladimir Frolovich instilled in the young boxer a non-standard manner of fighting. One of the elements of this style is an open handstand.

The successes of the novice boxer were impressive. Ageev quickly became the champion of the capital, and then the whole country. Victor was made famous by a unique series of victorious battles, in which there were no losses. A series of such victories began in 1960. For several years, Ageev won impressive victories in 34 meetings of the international level, twice he became the European champion and four times - the champion of the country.

In 1967, Viktor Petrovich received the title of Honored Master of Sports of the country, later he became the Honored Coach of the Soviet Union.

The fate of the champion

The boxer's sports career came to an end in 1968 - unexpectedly for many fans of Ageev's talent. The reason was an unpleasant incident in the Metropol restaurant, which ended in a fight. For this offense, Victor lost the title of master of sports, he was expelled from the national team. Therefore, Ageev did not take part in the Olympics held in Mexico City.

Several years have passed. And Viktor Petrovich was again involved in a fight. This time it all ended in a real time, although by now the boxer could well get off for his act only with an administrative punishment. But the law against hooligans in the country at that time was harsher than it is now.

Staying in places of detention was a serious test for Ageev. The proud and willful athlete clashed with a contingent of prisoners. Once they even tried to beat him to death with tire iron, and then they almost crushed him while being transported in a crowded car. For the third time Ageev froze so much that his life was in danger.

The former spring champion was released in 1975. He was deprived of his Moscow residence permit, so Ageev could only dream of returning to the capital. Old connections helped: as a result, Victor restored the right to live in Moscow. Here he got a job as a coach, retaining his love for boxing.

As a coach, Ageev became a boxing legend again. He was distinguished by a very philosophical approach to sports creativity. When selecting students, he was guided not so much by their physical qualities, natural inclinations and previous achievements, but by their fighting spirit and certain personality traits.

Ageev actively and selflessly promoted the idea of professional boxing in the country. He created his own sports club and Boxing School, where dozens of novice boxers were given the opportunity to train for free. Every year in Balashikha, a popular tournament for the prizes of Viktor Ageev is held.
